Wednesday March 14th we had the opportunity to go cross country skiing up at Soldier Hollow. Washington Online had set up a field trip so it only cost us $15, It would've been $115. It was Alma and my first time going. Jeremy had been half a dozen times.
Falls, plenty of falls were happening. Alma would tip over more than fall. He did that a lot, nut then he would get right back up and keep going. Jeremy had one good fall, and a couple of almost falls. Me on the other hand, I had three good falls. The first one I hurt my left wrist but was fine. The last one I was already soar so I don't know if I hurt anything. It is the second one that looked like it came right out of the movies.
So we were up at the top of a small hill, maybe 10 feet to the bottom. I was starting to go down and got scared so tried to stop. I stopped alright with my butt and back hitting the ground. As I fell backwards I swung my arm and my pole went up into the air. Like a second after my back hit the snow the pole came down and hit my on the forehead. I hurt, I would've started to cry if I wasn't laughing so hard. As it happened I thought how funny it must have looked. I'm not quiet when I fall so Jeremy heard the scream and turned around, so he saw the pole hit me in the head. He said it was really funny looking.
We all had a blast and would love to go again.

TO SCHOOL OR NOT TO SCHOOL, THAT IS THE QUESTION. OR IS IT?
It is that time of year again, figuring out what to do for school next year. Do we stay completely with Washington Online or do we only take a few classes? Do we look into other schooling at home options, like Harmony? Do we look at charter schools? Do we go public school? Do we just do our own thing? If we do our own thing then the question is what curriculum do we use or do we even use one? These are the questions we are discussing.
Yesterday we were talking about school. I said to Alma, " We are just going to send you back to school, it will make my life easier." Alma was quick to reply " NOT MINE!" Jeremy, my mom, and I broke out laughing. Most would think he was talking back. I took it as a compliment, that means he loves being home with me all day.
So back to the question of what to do for next year. I still do know. We will see.

BAPTISM DAY
Yesterday was the big day......Alma's baptism. I have been thinking about that day for so long I can't believe it is over, I can't believe he is that old. When people ask me if I feel old I just remind myself that I will still be in my 30's when he graduates high school.
Alma got a new suit form Grandpa Jay and Grandma Danna. He had no black shoe so we bought him black shoes and a new white shirt and tie. Jere had no black pants so we bought him a nice pair of black pants, a new white shirt and a new tie. We didn't have money to buy me a new dress or blouse so I just wore my sophmore sweethearts dress. It feels good to still fit in it:).
Alma really wanted the girls at his baptism so we picked them up Friday night and had them sleep over. In the morning we got ready and went over to the church. There was suppose to be three baptisms but Alma ended up being the only one. We stayed in the relief society room for the whole thing and then went down to the kitchen and the rooms right off it for cookies and apple juice. The was about sixty people there. After cookies a few of us went to lunch at Red Robin.
It was a fun day. I can't believe it is over. He is getting so old. He is halfway to driving, scary! My little guy is growing so fast. I hope he never out grows us.

I'M NOT WEAK JUST TIGHT.
On Friday March 2nd Jeremy had his last appointment with Dr. Sampson:( . She is moving in June to go do research at Columbia. It will be sad to see her go but great for the Myotonic community, she will be great at research. She asked Jeremy if he wanted to be part of a study she was working on. He signed a consent form and gave two tubes of blood.
Jere and I have been thinking that his calves were getting weak.I was thinking he was getting close to needing braces because when he stands up he does a funny walk before he can walk normal. We talked to Dr. Sampson about it and found out that is calves aren't weak it is just the myotonia, or the muscles lack of relaxing. In fact he is using more muscle to hold himself up. She said there is a medication ( Maxilatin) that can help with that BUT the cardiologist has to okay it first because it affects the heart. Dr. Sampson also sent him home with a sleep apnea test, wants him to get tested for diabetes just to be safe, and is sending him to a physical therapist for exercise recommendations.

PULLING TEETH
On Monday February 27th we pulled Alma's top two front teeth. They had been loose for along time. He wasn't using them to eat so It was time to get them out. One of the holes already has a tooth coming in, so that tooth was ready to come out. I told him Sunday night that if that tooth wasn't out by Monday night he would lose a quarter for each night it was still in after four nights he wouldn't get any money for it. I told him if both teeth were out by Monday night I would give him five dollars instead of the dollar each if they came separate.
Monday afternoon we were playing around, I was acting like I was going to punch his tooth out. He said "If I can hit you first." I agreed and he punched me in the mouth. Then it was my turn. I just barely his hie tooth and it started to bleed. That was the beginning of a fun night. Jere and I told him if he had the tooth out before 6PM that we would get him book number two in The Knights of Right series. He really wanted that book he had it out well before 6PM. Then we looked to the other tooth. It was in better but still really loose. We told him that if he got that one out before 7PM that we would get him book three and four in The Knights of Right series. He really wanted those books as well. Jeremy was willing to help, he got out the Nerf gun and tied fishing line to a dart and then to Alma's tooth. That was funny, until the fishing line moved to far up and we couldn't get it off. I was having visions of trying to explain to the dentist why there was fishing line stuck in Alma's mouth. Luckily after some playing with the tooth we were able to get the fishing line out. Shortly later the tooth came out. I felt so bad that we also bought him a drink.
Those we some expensive teeth after everything was done they cost us $26. The book we already bought ( they were suppose to be for Easter) for $20, $5 for having both teeth out that night and $1 for the drink. DRAIN TROUBLES
Yesterday I was cleaning up the kitchen. I was putting egg shells down the disposal when the water stopped going down and started to come back up. I immediately knew what had caused the problem, potatoes. We have had issues before when too many potato peels have been ran through the disposal. This time it was potato halves so I thought it would be fine. I guess I was wrong.
Jeremy took the p-trap off to see if they was a blockage. The pipes looked pretty clear, so he ran a plumbing snake down the pipe in the wall. He thought he felt something move. He put the drain back together and ran water to see if it was fixed. It ran great until he tried the disposal again. This process happened several times.
At one point I said " I wonder what the basement looks like?" The floor drain in the laundry room has had problems. Jeremy ran down stairs to look. It was not pretty. There wasn't a huge mess but definitely a mess. Luck for us the laundry room is cement and foot square sticky tiles. There was nasty black "stuff" in a big circle ( maybe 4.5 feet across) around the drain. Jeremy grabbed the snake and tried to get it into the drain. It wasn't working because of all the twist and turns. One time he had it in a little way and all of a sudden I see air coming up I was like "That has to be good, right?" Nope! After the air came up so did more water. After more trying with the snake I suggested just trying the plunger. Jeremy did it once and we couldn't tell if it worked or not. So he tried it again and that time it definitely worked. Yeah all the water was gone but boo all the poo was still there. Jeremy kept insisting it wasn't poo but I'm not so sure about that. Alma had an appointment with the bishop so we had to hurry and get cleaned up to go over to the church.
When we got back from the church the clean up began. We put a heater under the kitchen sink to dry it out. Then went downstairs to start on the laundry room. What sludge! It was so thick and nasty. You could see bits and pieces of egg shell and potatoes. We ripped up some of the sticky tile, more they peeled up, because of all the nasty stuff that got under them. Jeremy moved the washer out so we could clean under it. After getting all the sludge off the floor Jeremy brought down the hose and sprayed the floor. I got out the chemicals and started to sanitize everything.
After the laundry room was done we have to put everything back under the sink. The house was finally back together and I could go take a nice long hot shower.
It was an adventure but could've been a lot worse. I have a clean laundry room, under the sink was organized and due to a gasket breaking and a trip to home depot it only cost us $1.87. Not how I wanted to spend my Sunday but o'well.

FEBRUARY SO FAR
We have had quite a busy month so far. Alma turned eight and had three parties, there was Valentines Day, and several field trips.
Alma's birthday was on a Wednesday. Jeremy took half a day off to surprise Alma. We went out to lunch and then to Toys-R-Us. That night was his first official night of scouts. The next party was on Saturday with his friends. He had six friends come. The theme of the party was tricks/pranks. The last party was on Sunday with the family coming over for cake.
Valentines Day or should I say night was a blast. Jeremy and I actually had money to buy each other presents and to go out. I bought Jere some cologne from Victoria secret and fixed his watch, AGAIN. He got me two necklaces from Kay. One is from the open heart collection, I love that one. For our date we went to Ruby River and had some GREAT steak and to see The Vow. Jeremy also bought a box of treats from Cakewalk for Alma and I to share.
We have had a lot of field trips this month so far. We had two Valentines exchanges, a couple of performances at The Capital Theater, and an art and poetry festival with Washington Online.
The second half of the month looks just as busy as the first half. Alma has the remainder of his swim lessons, we joined a co-op, and the Safe Kids Fair is coming up.
